4 Reasons Why WordPress The Best Web Building Platform!

By Farhan M | June 23, 2018 | In Informational & WordPress

As of January 2018 there were over 4.15 billion users online which is just one reason alone for individuals and businesses to move online. Let’s see the top 4 reasons as to why that may be.

1. Open Source, Free, and Reliable

WordPress is a free open source content management system (CMS) that is used primarily for blogging and web development. It is so popular that almost one-third of all websites on the entire internet are powered by WordPress and it is currently the most popular CMS out there. Therefore, you can have a peace of mind that you a quality, well-known, and vouched-for CMS. Not to mention, since no one actually owns WordPress, you can rest assure that there will be no corporate influence or bias from them.

2. Ease of Use

Another reason WordPress is so popular is because the learning curve is very small. Straight out of the bat, the back-end (Dashboard) layout is very intuitive and you can quite literally create a simple website, up and running with zero experience in minutes. Web pages and blog posts can be created using the page editor or a page builder using visually intuitive drag and drop elements (more on this below).

3. Functionality: Plugins and Page Builders

Another advantage of using WordPress is the amount functionality you have thanks to WordPress plugin developers and the WordPress committee. A plugin is essentially an application you can add to your website to increase it’s functionality in many ways. For example, if you want a responsive fullwidth landing page with hover effects, there are around 150 plugins to do just that – Revolution Slider being the popular one.

A further extension of plugins are page builders. Page builders let you design using intuitive, visual drag and drop elements. Some of the most popular page builders have a free variant that enable you to create a beautiful website with the same functionality as popular, non-WordPress websites. In fact, my first WordPress website was made using the free Elementor Page Builder plugin before transitioning to an advanced page builder for extra functionality. Before you ask, yes, plugins are constantly being updated for improvements, efficiency, and security.

Moreover, through WordPress’ open source and page builder functionality, you can quite literally utilise and manipulate CSS, HTML, jS, and more if you need extra customisation.

4. Popularity

As mentioned in point 1, WordPress is extremely reliable. But what you may not know are the big names that utilise this tool which may emphasise the reliability. Big names include Sony Music, MTV News, Beyonce, The White House, Mercedes-Benz, and much more! If they have been using WordPress this whole time, surely it shows some reliability?
